So Jen took Malaren to the Big Lagoon State Park for the Fourth of July weekend
with Marzia, our next door neighbor and her sons, Lorenzo and Jordan, and her mom
who was visiting from Italy. It's a very nice park with a playground, trails, picnic
tables and, of course, the Perdidio Key Sound. Perdido Key is the sister key (from
the Spanish caya meaning "island") to Pensacola Beach (technically also a key). So,
like Pensacola Beach, it forms a calm "sound" between it and the mainland, a buffer
zone of waveless water, kind of murky, with a lot of swampy life forms, but it is
still very much like the main beaches (clear water and white sands). Excellent for
young swimmers -- and for hermit crabs

So read on!
