A cold day at the beach, Sunday, January 9.
After a week of very cold temperatures in North Carolina,
Dylan and Mal went to the beach last week. Very nice.
It's been about 75 degrees and balmy (humid) in Pensacola.
So today (Jan 9) all three of us went to the beach, but
it wasn't so warm or balmy. But we had fun!
NOTE: Let me know if these pictures are fuzzy, too small, or too big.
I can increase their size and quality.
The beach, as you'll see, has been blasted clean by Hurrican Ivan.
It's a very surreal landscape, good for a 1970's sci-fi movie, like Zardoz and Tor.
Jen - For instance, the bathrooms and showers that used to be on our right are no longer
there.
That's nuts! The pier was in use though, which is different from past hurricane
experiences in Pensacola.
The gulf has rolled a lot of junk up out of its depth, but one of the neat things are
these
tumble weeds that roll with all the vegetation at the shoreline.
We had fun playing soccer. Being European, Mal is naturally better then I am.
All done!
Then we played "Miss the Wave," in which Mal and I rush the on-coming wave,
then
Malaren lifts me up before I get my feet wet. She's not very good at it so sometime I help
her.
Woooo!
She can't get enough of it.
The game ended when Mal slipped out of my grip and I threw her like
a discus into the surf. Ooops!
She was alright -- and a change of clothes put her in a better mood. See the drops from her jacket?
Hop, hop!
M is helping D wring out the water.
Euh, missed the ball . . .
Then we skipped home for a long winter's nap!
