So we went to the beach twice today, once as usual, but the second visit
was a post-nap inspiration: Shooting at the Golden Hour. For those of you
who haven't made movies (ahem, ahem), "The Golden Hour" is the best
time to film outside: there is something that happens to the light as the sun
begins to set that is absolutely golden. The light bounces around in the
low atmosphere and illumines the universe so all angels are well-lit
("bathed") and it looks like the light is glowing from from within the skin.
And it can't be reproduced in studio; it's something that only God and
Nature can provide.
So at 5:30 pm, we went back to the beach. It stormed
like Thor's Revenge last night, so the day was crystal clean and clear. We
walked around the party people along the main beach for a bit, got
some breaded mozzarella sticks at a restaurant (it was the first time she
had them --- yum!) then drove a couple miles further down the island to
Church Beach (thank you, Annie), and let the girl run around in the amber
rays. I hope y'all can appreciate the awesome lighting in these photos.
